Hey Guys!

Sorry to have been so quiet recently, we've been super busy here at Sugar and Style HQ.

So, a quick update!

We took part in the Ideal Home Show at Earls Court last week, we went on a day trip to Paris to buy our new Christmas collection, today were gearing up for our 'grotto' at the British Libraries Christmas fair which starts tomorrow and now then were preparing for Clothes Show Live next week in Birmingham.

We have some awesome new pieces for the Christmas collection that I wanted to give you guys a sneaky peek at, as they aren't even online yet!

How cute is Mr. Fox?

Our take on the LBD - with embellishment obviously!

This funky Bomber is the epitome of winter florals!

And of course, the staple Christmas Jumper.

All these lovelies will be coming your way soon!

Which one is your favourite?

I've got a FABULOUS new jumper and bag.

My only problem is that they don't go together.

Here is my burgundy leopard print cashmere and wool jumper. Its on trend, good quality and gorgeous!
Its available in three colours (black, burgundy and nude) but this one was my favourite.

My bag, on the other hand is HOT PINK.

Isn't it great ?

I love it, but boy does it not go with burgundy.  I can't decide if I should forget the pink for the time being and focus on the jumper, or just throw caution to the wind and embrace clashing prints and colours.
I'm told clashing is cool at the moment...

What would you guys do ?

FYI - Both Items are available from sugarandstyle.co.uk

Obsession Number One: Victoria Secrets

Yes ladies, I'm sure if you live in London (where we are lucky enough to have stores already) you will have developed a keen liking for Victoria Secrets. I know they have stores opening in Leeds and Manchester very soon, so the ladies of the north can join in.

OK, so its just underwear, right?

NO, Wrong.

Its going to change your life.

So that could be a bit strong, but its definitely changed the way I shop for underwear.

Its so overwhelmingly American you can't help but join in and embrace it. Its all pink, and everything looks so lovely and soft.

This is a demi bra which is both comfortable and girly- super cute!

My personal favourite is the non- under wired bras they do. I would describe them as sexy sports bras.
It sounds ridiculous but they are as comfortable as your ugliest sports bra, yet they offer cleavage and full support.

A good dress can only reach its full potential if you make the right under wear choices.

Ive tried almost every bra VS has to offer so if you're thinking of investing, im your expert; Ive already got my mum and sister on board.

Anyone else tried Victoria Secrets recently ?

BLOGGER INTERVIEW

KAYLA HADLINGTON
BLOGGER INTERVIEW

Kayla Hadlington - Sugar + Style blogger of the week

Name - Kayla Hadlington

Agec - 20

City - London

Job/study?
Fashion Design Womenswear student at London College of Fashion and Fashion Blogger

What made you start blogging?
I'm not really sure, I joined lookbook.nu because I thought it was the next big thing after myspace and I noticed everyone on there had a blog so I started one too!

Who is your ideal reader and why?
Someone who continues to visit my blog because they're genuinely interested in whatever my blog has to offer!

What is it about fashion that interests you?
I love being to express myself through fashion and I also like getting to know other peoples fashion choices. Going shopping with other people is really fun as you get to understand their thoughts behind what they're buying- When I shop on my own I always have to send my friends photos of things that I know they would love! The process of design is also really interesting. Its one thing to see a show but once you understand the design process and research behind it, it gives the collection a whole new meaning and you appreciate it more.

If you could meet anyone in the world, who would it be and why?
I'm not really a fan-girl type of person, but it would have to be either Vivienne Westwood, Marilyn Manson or Warren Buffet. I'd want to meet Vivienne because she reminds me of my grandma and I really love unusual pattern cutting in her collections. I'm not quite sure why I would want to meet Manson, Marilyn Manson is my favourite band and I just think he would be really interesting to meet because of his entire view on life. I'd love to meet Warren Buffett as he is super inspirational! Lots of people call me cheap for shopping in charity shops but Warren makes me feel good about my money saving life choices, being frugal isn't bad!

If you could design a perfect outfit, what would it be?
Honestly I don't know, when I think of design I think of something which takes weeks to turn into something wearable. However when I think of what I really want to wear- I'd love some leggings with a mid-length ripped denim shirt with a corset over the top and cropped vintage jacket and vintage-style brogues! (I actually wear this outfit pretty often but as a different version each time, its getting a bit old now but I still love it)

Back in style for A/W 2013 is 90s grunge. You don't have to be scary or go completely goth, a simple update to your wardrobe could get you bang on trend.

An over sized jumper, a slick of eyeliner and a hint of attitude; all you need to rock grunge.

For those who love a bit of embellished with your grunge, Sugar + Style found these beauties for you:

Sophie Jumper  - £36

What do you think to my collection of jumpers ? How would you style yours ?

I like mine with  a little bit of leather!

WAREHOUSE - STYLE ME IF YOU CAN

Warehouse have invited their customers to be the stylist for their new ad-campaign.
To celebrate the launch of their new 90-minute delivery service they asked people to design looks for a city-20-something to work throughout her day and different occasions.

This is my favourite piece from their new collection - its FABULOUS, and if anyone wants to pay for it and bring me in it 90 mins that would be great too.
The style challenge involved using different key pieces to create different looks, for separate occasions; I think this one would work for most of them.

Check out the result of everyone's hard work!

Burberry Prorsum Collection : Pastels and Polka Dots

Well, Christopher Bailey, you will be pleased to know that I completely agree, Spring/Summer 2014 definitely needs an injection of pastels. Whilst it may not be the most original colour palette to choose, similar to Topshop announcing that 'winter florals' were on trend for this years colder months (aren't they always?) it works and the tag line 'soft, easy and understated' makes it accessible to all women.

Pastel colours - TICK
All white trend - TICK
Easy to wear shape - TICK
Dash of colour - TICK

Burberry really have covered all bases and here at Sugar + Style we have tried to do the same.  My favourite pieces from the new collection which encompass each of these trends are :

Felicity Playsuit - £28

As seen on Marie Claire online - The Stephie Polka Dot Blouse £25

What we've been up to...

These last few months have been a bit of a whirlwind for me...I had so many exciting things happening at once that I literally didn't have any time to sit down and blog!!  But now things have settled and I've found myself with an unusual morning off so I can re-cap on what's been going on...

It all started this time last year, my brand was featured in Grazia and then in Vogue and the website went crazy with orders.  To a big high street brand it would have been a normal day to them, but for a smaller start up it had me working all day and night for a week trying to catch up with the demand!

Shortly after I took part in Clothes Show Live which is a huge 5 day shopping event in Birmingham, the show was amazing for us and our clothing collection pretty much sold out before the end of the event...it was a manic 5 day event and took me about a week to recover!

It was then announced that we had won a 6 week pop up shop in Boxpark Shoreditch...it was an amazing opportunity and I took on my first member of staff Sophie, who had interned with the company back in November.  We opened our first little pop up shop in Feb...it went so well that we extended our stay for a further 3 months.

In June, I decided to go for a re-brand, the name China Doll Boutique was very personal to me and had been an off-spring of a beauty blog I ran for 3 years, but I decided that it was a good time for a change.  fter a few weeks of deliberation we went for the name Sugar + Style.  The re-brand came with a shiny new look website, a new collection and a wave of press features.

We moved out of Boxpark at the end of June and opened a little pop up shop on Brick Lane. It was a sweet little space but the timing was just not right, I was going through a few personal issues and slacking on energy - a fresh start was much needed.  We moved out of the pop up shop and into a new office space and had a new drive to focus our energies online.

Now we're September and our little team of Me + Sophie has extended...

We're welcoming Isabel our amazing graphic designer, she interned with us in August but it soon became clear we would be lost without here...and Elizabeth, who's taken up the starring role as our in house model, but she's not just a pretty face, she's our super savvy seventeen year old social media assistant who runs her own fashion blog too!

Well I think that's it for now...keep tuned for more updates - I have a full team now so updates *should* be more frequent ;-)
